Well, the studies do not show any decrease in frequency of injury, but frequency is a hard thing to measure. Serious athletes may have different issues that recreational's.
Studies show serious injuries occur to both stretchers and non-stretchers. No clear preference there.
Maffetone says that stretchers heel faster, with less visits to the doctor. Finely a clear benefit, or is there? So do stretchers self select to seek attention faster, or is there a benefit?
Doing the stretches lightly in the morning helps loosen the muscles and tendons and the old body feels better, but is that the benefit?
What warm ups?
- small to big shoulder circles, both ways.
- Elbows up, shoulder streches
- hands clasped and back
- forearms both way, both sides
- arm against the wall, both sides
- Touch toes
